This is a documentary about the making of "The Family." Paul Watson, BBC Producer and his BBC Television series "The Family." Why the series was made, techniques for shooting, how the family was chosen, relationship between family and crew, reception of the series in England, aftereffects on the Wilkins of being the subject of a nationally televised series. Themes: Watson: " I chose the Wilkins on Christmas Day and then started to test their reactions to the chaos that they would have to live in for a while." The problems the Wilkins faced: overcrowding, one girl wanting to leave school, not enough money, son and daughter-in-law with baby being asked to move out, another daughter living and sleeping with the family lodger who didn't want to marry her, illegitimate child, lack of privacy and security.
